Jambmaths question:

The length a person can jump is inversely proportional to his weight. If a 20kg person can jump 1.5m. Find the constant of proportionality

Option A:

60

Option B:

30

Option C:

20

Option D:

15

Jamb Maths Solution:

$\begin{align}  & l\propto \frac{1}{w} \\ & l=\frac{k}{w}\text{  (where }k=\text{ proportionality constant)} \\ & \text{when }w=20kg,\text{ }l=1.5m \\ & 1.5m=\frac{k}{20kg} \\ & k=1.5m\times 20kg=30kgm \\\end{align}$
