$\begin{align}  & \text{The question deals with arrangement of people (or objects)}\text{.} \\ & \text{Therefore we use permutation to solve the problem} \\ & \text{The arrangement is  given by}{{\text{ }}^{n}}{{P}_{r}}=\frac{n!}{(n-r)!} \\ & \text{For 5 people to be arranged on 3 seats will be} \\ & ^{5}{{P}_{3}}=\frac{5!}{(5-3)!}=\frac{5\times 4\times 3\times 2\times 1}{2\times 1}=60ways \\\end{align}$
